Blog Redesign!!- Memphis, Tennessee Photographer

I have been working really hard today on redesigning my blog. It needed it very bad and I'm too cheap to hire anyone! Well due to my cheapness I have a super bad headache at the moment. It is so hard when you want to make a simple change and you cannot figure out how to do it. Oh well let me know your thoughts. There are more changes to come but this is enough for one day. So at some point or another everyone needs a little inspiration. We all get stuck in ruts and need some help freshening things up! This happens in every line of work especially when you are making art. You want to be original, new, fresh, and exciting. You want people to see something in your work that they see no where else. What to Wear Wednesday!!!

Yea for me two days in a row! I know you have been on the edge of your seats wondering what Wednesday would bring... so What to Wear Wednesday it is. I know a lot of photographers already do this on their blog but it is a commonly asked question that will be hopefully be addressed through these posts. In order to keep things a little different, every other Wednesday will be What is it Wednesday (more details about this next Wednesday and I must say there will be a prize offered so keep watch). One Year Old Session Downtown- Memphis, TN Child & Baby Photography

My family and I went downtown for my nephew's one year photos and had a blast! We made a night out of it and it was lots of fun. He is lots of fun to photograph and busy busy busy! Enjoy!

Blog Neglect

My poor blog has been so neglected recently. I have not done too many shoots recently because of a busy life but I did do some of my nephew in his Halloween costume so here you go....

Opinions?

Anyone reading that has an opinion on which size photo is better please let me know. The larger ones are nice to look at but they seem to take lots longer to upload. Please let me know your thoughts. Here's a gorgeous sunset photo for you to look at while thinking. Thanks. D

B's Session- Bartlett, TN Baby Photographer

What a sweet little man!  He was lots of fun to photograph but very serious. There were not lots of smiling pictures but the serious face was so very adorable. Here are a few but more to come.

Hey guys. I stumbled upon an Awesome and I do mean awesome blog in the last month or two. I was looking at another photographers Twitter and happened to see that she followed The Savvy Photographer. The name alone got my attention and I was curious so I went to the blog right away. I can honestly say I have already expanded my knowledge of photography in the short time I have known about this blog. I absolutely love the weekly, if not more, sessions with various professional photographers. They are so generous with their knowledge and it has helped me lots. I would recommend this blog to all photographers, from amateur to pro, and even those that just like a good read with a variety of interesting information. K's Session Sneak Peek- Memphis, TN Child and Toddler Photography

She is such a precious little girl but very shy.  She was not sure what I was doing in her backyard!  She did come around when the bubbles were brought out.  These are just a few that I have processed.  I am swamped with post processing right now so I'm just trying to work as quickly as my baby boy will allow.  I never knew that I would have a 10 month old for a boss!  :)

Wow

Hello.  I just wanted to do a quick post to let everyone know how thankful I am for all the compliments on R's session.  I will tell you that it was the connection those two had that made those photos great.  I love natural photography (no posing during my sessions please) and want to capture a special moment in time, a bond, a personality, a silly face or whatever my clients are about.  Thank you again and all the comments have truly brought tears to my eyes because I am seeing others enjoy my passion with me.

Two Sweet Souls at Shelby Farms- Memphis Tennessee Pet, Baby and Family Photographer

Thank you Rachel for allowing me to shoot you and your puppy even though it was a bittersweet time.  I hope I have captured her true personality so that you may remember her as she was, a happy and hard headed puppy!  This is a very small preview but I promised a few tonight.  This doesn't even include my absolute favorites, which there are several.  I will post more tomorrow and that's a promise but after being up last night with my baby boy this Mommy is turning in.  Have a good night all!

Yucky Weather :(

Well thanks to the stinking rain my shoot scheduled for today was canceled :(.  We are rescheduling for tomorrow though :) so all is good.  I am so excited and I'm sure I will have pictures up right away, well maybe not that soon.  Hope everyone here in Memphis is alright after all the nasty storms today.  I'm going to post one or three of my favorite zoo pictures today for your enjoyment....

I'm so excited because tomorrow I have my first official photo shoot outside of family!  Okay so she is a friend but hey it is still an official shoot.  Thanks Rachel for letting me shoot photos of you and your puppy.  I have been studying up on poses today and gathering useful information for tomorrow's shoot.  Thanks to my hubby also for his support and for taking care of our boy while I go out for a shoot.  Pictures to follow in the next few days from the shoot.  Of course I cannot close this blog without a photo so here you go....(obviously one of my most favorite faces being that he is my baby boy)

This is the start of the posting for a session that was lots of fun and lots of work.  It was done at the Botanic Gardens here in Memphis.  I learned a lot though, especially that you should never let them have gum during a shoot :).  Thanks for allowing me to shoot you two and thanks to Mommy. Hi and thanks for stopping by!  I'm Dana Culpepper. I'm a wife to one amazing man and a mommy to one amazing son. I must say God has truly blessed me and my family. I'm currently in nursing school pursuing a career in nursing. My photography story began as so many others. I have always been the photographer of the family, you know the one that makes sure family events are captured forever. After having my little man, I realized that I wanted more than just snapshots, I wanted awesome, natural photographs of my son. I wanted to create photographs I would be excited to hang on my wall. Well since then I have been studying and photographing in my every free moment to learn as much as possible and improve my skills.
